Land Acknowledgment

The El Sereno (‘Ochuunga) Community Land Trust officially recognizes the Tongva, Chumash, Gabrieleno, and all Indigenous people of the Los Angeles basin as the original caretakers of this land, originally called Tovaangar and now also called Los Angeles.

We recognize centuries of enslavement, colonization, genocide, and capitalism as the structural reasons why we are today on stolen land.

We believe all Indigenous peoples have a right to steward their ancestral lands, including the lands where we live.

We affirm that in the context of global ecological and social collapse, we need Indigenous people at the forefront to help take lead in the struggle for life.
